The Role of Medical Marijuana in the Fight Against Heroin

Weed solves heroin.  Nope, this isn’t some weird new rock-paper-scissors game.  Marijuana really does appear to help the growing heroin problem.

It turns out that cities which have adopted medical marijuana have seen a drop in opiate overdoses and addiction treatment admissions.  Why?  Because the marijuana is being used in place of prescription painkillers.  Those pills are dangerous enough, but worse they can be a gateway to heroin addiction.  If people get fewer prescriptions for opiate drugs, you have fewer problems down the road.

Is there nothing marijuana can’t do?
